Guitar nerds, check out Guitars of Pittsburgh! Twiz has put together a blog featuring photos of the guitars of people in active bands around the three rivers. It’s just getting started, but it’s sort of like an online collection of baseball cards with a photos and some “stats”.
Galveston B.B. Stone – Guitars of Pittsburgh
I had to choose just one from all of my goofy guitars for the photo, so I went with the one that started all the craziness. Plus, there should only be about 8 or 12 of them in the Unites States.
Check out Guitars of Pittsburgh, follow it in Tumblr or your news reader, and take a look at all the awesome axes we have around town!
So, AxVault.com has featured my guitar collection. How cool is that? I’m honored & proud to have been selected to be a featured collection! Of course, I dig anything that encourages me to buy more goofy guitars.
Heh. So, I got stuck in the mud today. I found it amusing, thought you might too. Without revealing what I do exactly or my employer, I can say I drive around a lot for a living. I pulled off of a narrow country road to make way for a larger pickup with double-wide tires towing a trailer… on to what I thought was a solid piece of land. Turns out it was soggy muddy ground, sort of like quick sand. I could feel the truck slowly tipping as soon as I pulled over. I tried to rock back & forth in 4WD to get out, but didn’t want to bang the underside of the truck off of the edge of the road. Luckily some other guys I work with were just a phone call & a few minutes away, and towed me out without incident. A local also stopped to see if I was OK, and another guy working in the area did the same & even let me use his cell phone booster to make a call where my signal was weak.
So, if you’re ever in a bind, don’t panic. People who are generally willing to help out are out there.
So, I’m gonna be a dad. It’s crazy. I’m the guy that plays in a punk band that sings songs about poop, gets his truck stuck in the mud, buys crazy guitars, and has Batman & Star Wars obsessions. I barely have my own life together, and now my wife & I are going to be responsible for another one? As crazy as it is, I think we’re ready. It’s exciting. We’ve been OK with the thought of having a kid for a while, it just never happened. We’re glad it’s finally happening. Some time in May, we should have a little boy or girl. We go on Saturday for an ultrasound to get an exact date.
Someday, someone is going to call me “Dad” and my wife “Mom”. The idea of it all is just incredible. I’m sure I’ll be blogging about it all along the way. Before I start, any fatherly or parenting advice? Please leave some below! (Not on Facebook to Twitter!)
I’m not an architect, or a contractor, or even a toilet salesman… but I think I’ve found a flaw in a certain type of hotel room / bathroom setup. I’m no germaphobe, but I believe this design to be quite unsanitary.

What design? The sink outside of the bathroom design.
Sure, it’s convenient to shave or brush your teeth while someone else is pooping or showering… But at what cost do we purchase this convenience? The cost of a bazillion tiny germs all over the inside of the door handle after you wipe and before you wash your hands. Sure, you can grab an extra wad of toilet paper for your journey outside. How many people do that though? How much microscopic fecal matter is already on that door handle? Did the maid think to wipe it down? What if you forget after you get out of the shower? You just washed yourself, and now your hand may venture into a feculent festival of filth.
Am I doing something wrong here? Am I missing something? Let’s get this right so I don’t have to touch poop-encrusted (albeit microbial poop) door handles.
So, I’ve been really bad at blogging lately. It’s not that I don’t have anything to blog about, it’s mostly that I’m not finding much time to do it. I did have someone recently contact me with a complaint thinking I’m some entity… not sure who they thought. I wrote back to no avail. I think it was a dud. I may try again to get a response, maybe I’ll even post something.
Mainly, it’s because of a new job. I’m not tied to a desk with a few spare minutes or even with lunch time at the desk. Now, I’m on the road & in the field all day. When I get home, I don’t seem to gravitate right to blogging or my news feed.
I never did finish my New York Pro guitar… well, I did route out the pickguard with a Dremel set that my mom gave me, and eventually got the neck plate off, but I had my guitar guy put it all back together. If you need work done in the Pittsburgh area, let me know and I’ll send you to the right cat for repairs, setups, and even guitar insanity which is generally all I ever have for him (e.g. the Batman logo guitar went from goofy to absolutely playable in his hands). It looks ridiculous, plays like a dream, and screams through the amplifier like you wouldn’t believe. GFS pickups rule.
It’s a great article, soiled by crude comments (as are many things found on the internet). I’ve already shown my support by simply being a patron, been “vocal” about my support in blog form, and via comments. I’d like to add some more thoughts here.
Captain committed some illegal acts. He was arrested, sentenced, and served his time. In the eyes of the law, he’s paid his due. It should be settled there, but some of you apparently don’t agree. You look for further condemnation for whatever reasons… a perceived higher moral standard, some internal guilt, jealousy if you felt you’ve ever been punished too harshly for something, or just plain anger.
Captain has put it all out there. He’s admitted guilt, apologized to his family & the community, and he’s ready to move on. You can take the high road, and let him move past this & give him room to prove that he’s worthy of forgiveness.
Mainly, my whole message here is about forgiveness. It’s a simple thing to think about, and to talk about…but it can be extremely difficult to ask for or to give. It doesn’t matter what the situation may be. It doesn’t matter if it’s serious or simple. It does no one any good to hold on to anger or any sort of grudge or agenda.
Most major religions teach forgiveness. I believe there’s a dual purpose outside of the divine. When you find it within yourself to drop the urge to pass judgement and forgive someone, a great weight is lifted off of you. You can physically feel it if your anger or resentment is strong enough. Try it. Let go of the negative. It doesn’t do anyone any good. Leave judgement to the authorities and ultimately whatever higher power you subscribe to.
We can’t condone what he did, but it does take a lot of guts to stand up and apologize to the community for embarrassing it. Hopefully he is able to give back to Dormont in a way that would atone for his crimes more than probation or jailtime ever could.
An enlightened sentiment, eloquently stated.
To end on a light note… Johnny Cash was all about forgiving and rehabilitation… all those prison concerts. Who are we to argue with Johnny Cash?
Oh, maybe he meant Sundaes. I still have no idea which location we’re talking about here. Oh yeah, it happened again…

I’m not sure why one day of the week would cost more than another day of the week. Also… only a dollar? To purchase an entire day? I’d say that’s a deal, no matter where you are. Can you order people around for the day? Where can I buy one?
Were you named after the McDonald’s mascot? If so, you should get a discount!
Rock on!

I didn’t get a response, so I tried again:

Hello Ronald,
I was wondering if you got my message? You may have figured out that I am not McDonalds. I wonder if you could share with me the exact steps that you took that landed you on my blog? We may be able to battle price gouging together.
Good day sir,
-Waldo
Still, no reply. I guess Ronald figured it out? At any rate, it’s time to start having some fun with these emails.
